What does Evvy test for?
“What does Evvy test for?” — we get that question a lot!
The short answer? *All* bacteria and fungi.
That’s right — every single one known to science & relevant to the vaginal microbiome.
We know picking up on "everything" is not a common way of thinking about testing, but that's what differentiates our test from all others on the market.
All other vaginal microbiome tests, including those that you get at the doctor's office or direct-to-consumer, use technology called either PCR or 16s, which look for a predefined & limited list of microbes.
The Evvy Vaginal Health Test is the only vaginal microbiome test to use metagenomics instead, an advanced form of sequencing. It is powerful enough to discover all bacteria and fungi present in a microbiome sample!
So no matter what you’re looking to test — if it’s bacteria or fungi, we’ll pick up on it. That means you don’t have to order several tests to get a good picture of what’s up down there — just one.
For extra clarity, here's an abbreviated list of microbes that we often get asked about. We test for all of these (& thousands more!)
- Atopobium vaginae
- Candida albicans
- Candida glabrata
- Candida tropicalis
- Enterococcus faecalis
- E. coli
- Gardnerella vaginalis
- Lactobacillus crispatus
- Lactobacillus gasseri
- Lactobacillus iners
- Lactobacillus jensenii
- Mobiluncus curtisii
- Prevotella bivia
- Streptococcus agalactiae (group B strep)
- Mycoplasma genitalium
- Mycoplasma hominis
- Ureaplasma urealyticum
- Ureaplasma parvum
- & thousands more!
What we don’t test for
- Anything related to human DNA! Evvy only looks at the microbial aspects of a sample (bacteria and fungi) and does not sequence or store any of your genetic information. Evvy's tests are processed by a CLIA certified lab and the samples are only used for the purposes of better understanding vaginal microbiome.
- We do not test for viruses or STIs.
